Book Beginnings - Treasuring Emma by Kathleen Fuller

This is a weekly meme hosted at A Few More Pages where you grab the book you're currently reading and share the first sentence.

I'm currently reading 'Treasuring Emma' by Kathleen Fuller

First sentence:

"Emma, I'm so sorry."
Emma Shetler lifted her gaze to meet Moriah Miller's eyes. Moriah had been a good friend to her over the past year, and Emma had never noticed until now how blue her eyes were. Blue like the summer sky, and at this moment, full of compassion.

So far I'm really enjoying 'Treasuring Emma'. I found the first sentence interesting and a good way for a book to begin. I think it will make a reader think 'What is Moriah sorry for?' That question is answered within the next few sentences.

  2. That opening certainly makes you want to know what happened, or what Moriah may have said or done to be sorry about. Enjoy your story. I did a BB post this week too.

  3. I like descriptions like this, so thanks for sharing! :) At first I thought Moriah was a man, and was amazed at how ravishing he sounded already! Haha oops!

  4. So, is it historical fiction? Or is it Amish fiction like Beverly Lewis writes?

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. ~ Philippians 4:8
