Interview and Giveaway! Candy Ann Little ~ Author of The Unwilling Bride!

Photobucket

Welcome to Christian Bookshelf Reviews, Candy!! Will you tell us a little about yourself?

Thank you for having me. I’m the mom of two great kids. I used to say teenagers but my son just turned twenty, so now, I guess I have to say adult children. Although my daughter is still a teen, but at 17 she is closer to adulthood than I’d like!!  I have been married to my husband for almost 22 years.  And, I’ve been a Christian for 25 years.

What is The Unwilling Bride about?

PhotobucketIt’s 1798 and Caitlin finds herself in an arranged marriage to Dillon. Her parents set up the marriage for her protection. However the groom is from England. Caitlin’s family was forced to flee Ireland four years before because of the Irish Uprising, which was fighting against England to gain their independence. Caitlin feels that Dillon is her enemy. She is also struggling with her faith. This a romantic story of getting married first then falling in love.

What's something the average reader wouldn't know about you?

The Unwilling Bride started out as a writing assignment for my writers’ group. I was supposed to write 500-1,000 words in the style of my favorite author. I choose Kathleen E. Woodiwiss. I started surfing the internet looking for a time and place to set my story. I stumbled upon The Irish Uprising. Then, the pieces of the plot just started clicking into place. I found out that the Sedition Acts were passed in America around the same time as Ireland was fighting for their freedom. Thus, a full fledge story emerged.

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

About 13 years ago. I had a stillborn daughter and the nurse at the hospital suggested I keep a journal to help with the grieving process. After a few years, I decided to turn my feelings and emotions into a romance novel. It took about 2 years before I finished. But the writing of that story launched a love that fills the void where my daughter should be. And now, all these years later, I’m living my dream of being an author!! I give all this glory to God who has been with me every step and blessed me with my overactive imagination.

What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?

PhotobucketThat writing truly is a source of healing. I find it therapeutic putting my thoughts and feelings into the characters and plots.

What do you like to do when you're not writing?

I love to cook and bake.

Do you have a favorite time of year?

Yes, autumn. I love all the colors and how the leave crunch under my feet.

Do you have a favorite song and/or movie?

I do but too many to list. I like old country love songs and romantic comedies for movies.

Do you have a favorite Bible verse?

Psalm 31:24 “Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.”

Are you currently working on any new novels?

Yes. I’m going through and editing the very first romance I wrote, “Unforgiving Ghosts.” Although I don’t feel the writing is as good and Megan isn’t as strong of a character as Caitlin in “Unwilling Bride,” it is the romance that deals with my emotional state about losing my daughter. This story is the nearest and dearest to my heart. I’m also working on a sequel to my “Death by Broken Heart,” series.

Thank you, Candy, for being here! Where can we find you on the web?

Thank you so much for having me. May God bless your journey!!

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. ~ Philippians 4:8
