Review: Love Finds You In Mackinac Island, Michigan by Melanie Dobson

Love Finds You In Mackinac Island, Michigan by Melanie Dobson
Summerside Press / July 2012
Amazon / Goodreads

About the book:

It's the height of the Gilded Age, but Elena Bissette's family has lost most of its fortune. The Bissettes still own a home on fashionable Mackinac Island, and they spend summers there in hopes of introducing Elena to a wealthy suitor.

Quickly tiring of the extravagant balls at the Grand Hotel, she spends her days walking along the island's rugged coastline. There she meets Chase, a young fisherman who invites her to watch the ships from an abandoned lighthouse. The two begin to meet there in secret, hoping to solve a decades-old mystery.

Meanwhile, Elena's mother contrives introductions between Elena and the island's most eligible bachelor, an elusive millionaire named Chester Darrington. When Elena's two worlds unexpectedly collide, she will be in for the surprise of her life.

My thoughts:

I'm not positive, but I think "Love Finds You In Mackinac Island, Michigan" is the first "Love Finds You" book I've read. If the rest of them are as good as this one, I've truly been missing out!

I loved the characters, setting, story - the whole book! It was very enjoyable and interesting to read. After reading this book, I'd love to visit Mackinac Island, Michigan - it sounds gorgeous.

I found it really funny that Chase and Chester Darrington were the same man, but Elana found herself falling for Chase and dreading to meet Chester.

"Love Finds You In Mackinac Island, Michigan" was slightly predictable, but it still held my attention throughout and, once it was finished, left me wanting more - I really loved the characters and am hoping for another book with them.

This is the second book I've read by Melanie Dobson (the first being "Refuge on Crescent Hill") and definitely my favorite so far! I look forward to reading more of her novels in the future.

I recommend "Love Finds You In Mackinac Island, Michigan" if you enjoy historical romances and/or "Love Finds You" books. It is a great one!

*I received this book for free for my review. I was not required to give a positive review, only my honest opinion - which I've done. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.*

  2. Thanks for your review. I enjoy reading them, as I think we have similar taste in books. However, I was disappointed that you seem to have given away a major plot point...that Chase and Chester are the same person. If you could at least warn of spoilers, that would be fantastic! I look forward to hearing your thoughts on whatever you're currently reading!

    1. I try not to give anything away in my reviews and that wasn't a spoiler (in my opinion) because in the story it is known that they are the same guy - there is no secret to the reader. Sorry if that disappointed you, though, and thank you for commenting. :)
