Love it or Hate it (Last Minute Read-A-Thon)

Hosted by Vonnie's Reading Corner & A Night's Dream Of Books

Reading progress update:

I read a lot yesterday, which I'm very happy about!

Books finished:

Quest for Celestia: A Reimagining of The Pilgrim's Progress
Cinder (Lunar Chronicles)

Currently reading:

I'm just about to start No One to Trust (Hidden Identity Book #1): A Novel

Today's challenge:

Post up book covers that you love and hate, explaining why.

Book Covers I love:

I love this cover. It's weird, creepy (especially when you notice the hands coming out of the fog), and just really cool.

I have a thing about winter covers and this book tops my list of favorites. I think it is SO beautiful and I absolutely loved the book!

Book Covers I Don't Like:

I had a hard time coming up with covers I hated from the books I read this year. Below are two that I don't care for all that much.

I don't know what it is about this cover, but I just don't like it. :/

This cover isn't horrible or anything, but it's not a favorite either.

What are some book covers you love and some you hate?

I completely agree with Shattered and Nightmare City, until you mentioned it I hadn't noticed the hands in the fog! Very creepy and cool!!! :D

    1. Thanks, Caitlyn! I didn't notice the hands in the fog until I was reading the book. :) Did you notice the camera around Tom's neck? I just noticed that when I was getting this post together. :)

    2. Haha! That's the funny thing, I actually noticed the camera the second or third time I saw the cover! I have yet to read this boon but I'm looking forward to it at some point! I love it when they put tiny details in the cover that it takes a while to spot!!! :D

  2. Hi, Melanie!

I love the cover of "Shattered", too! Like you, I adore covers with winter themes. And this one has quite a bit of blue in it!!

As for "The Merciful Scar", I don't like the texture on top of the image. It looks like the model is leaning on a pane of glass, but still, I don't like the effect. I also don't like the arm jutting out of the picture. It looks too awkward.

The cover of "Nightmare City" really gives me the creeps! I stay away from books like these, because they scare me too much...

As for the cover of "Congo Dawn", it doesn't do a thing for me. And it sort of looks depressing, too, in spite of the bright yellow.

    Thanks for sharing!! : )

    1. Winter covers are just the best. :) I love the blue in Shattered! I also love the little bit of snow in Piper's hair, plus the scarf, and the mountain...pretty much everything about that cover I love! :D

That's exactly what I don't like about those two covers!

I love creepy books and covers, but can totally see how they might scare people.

      Thanks for commenting! :)

  3. Fun post, Melanie. Love Dani's and I actually really liked The Merciful Scar, too. It fits with the story really well - emotional and interesting - and I like the rain texture. :)

  5. Great job in finishing two books!!!

I am quite taken with Nightmare City. Maybe because it's the whole play on yellow and black that gives the sense of creepiness? Makes me want to check out the book more though.

Also, I actually like the cover for Merciful Scar.
