About the book:
We live in a world filled to the brim with advice, and when it comes to dealing with stress, there's plenty of advice to go around. Sleep more, eat better, avoid this, seek out that. But more ideas about how to cope are not necessarily what we need if we're stressed and anxious.

What we need is a cure.

The true remedy to stress, Linda Evans Shepherd says, is prayer. In this inspiring book, she shows you how to recognize God's continual presence in your life and yield your troubles to the Prince of Peace. Through captivating stories, explorations of fascinating biblical characters, and examples of deeper-than-ever prayers, she brings within your grasp the peace that passes understanding. If you are overwhelmed by all of the urgent demands on your time, this book offers you a lifeline to true peace.

My thoughts:

The Stress Cure is a good book with helpful advice on how to "cure" stress. I found the second half of the book especially helpful and I enjoyed the personal stories Linda shared throughout the book.

One of my favorite quotes:

"How often do you choose to take offense at things that were never meant to offend?" -- Page 103

I didn't care for the prayers at the end of each chapter, just because they seemed almost ritualistic to me (because it says to put your hand over your stomach and pray the following yield prayer, then take deep breaths to relax and repeat the prayer until you feel God's peace). I just wasn't a fan of that or how several of the prayers were identical or nearly identical from chapter to chapter.

Still, I liked The Stress Cure and recommend it if you have stress issues, because it does contain helpful advice. It's a good nonfiction read.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. ~ Philippians 4:8
