DVD Review: I Can Only Imagine

About the movie:
Dennis Quaid and Trace Adkins star in this inspiring true story behind MercyMe’s beloved hit song. Running from a troubled home life and a broken relationship, Bart Millard (Finley) found escape in music. Hitting the road in a decrepit tour bus, Bart and his band MercyMe set out on an amazing journey none of them could have ever imagined, in this uplifting, music-filled movie that beautifully illustrates the power of forgiveness and God’s love. The home entertainment release of I Can Only Imagine features over 3 hours of extras including 7 deleted scenes, 7 in-depth featurettes, an audio commentary, and more!

My thoughts:

I Can Only Imagine is a fantastic film. It is the true story behind the song "I Can Only Imagine" by MercyMe. It is a moving story and an emotional one. There are some heartbreaking moments where I felt so bad for what Bart went through and yet it is overall an inspiring film about redemption.

The cast is phenomenal. Dennis Quaid played his character so well and he was very believable. J. Michael Finley was awesome as Bart -- really likable. I didn't even feel like I was watching a movie, but instead seeing someone's real life. It was a gripping story.

All in all, I recommend I Can Only Imagine. It is probably THE best movie, Christian or non-Christian, that I have seen in years. I've watched it three times now (two in theaters) and I haven't gotten sick of watching it. Each time it moves me and I highly recommend it. A great gift for Father's Day and I encourage you to pick up a copy.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. ~ Philippians 4:8
