Summer Lovin’ Read-a-Thon: Day Four

Share a quote from your current read or tell us about a book that really pulled on your heart strings. What was it about that book/quote that made you cry?


Easy question! Inside Threat pulled on my heartstrings more than any other book - at least as far as I can remember. Tears were pouring down my face when I was reading the last couple chapters and for a long time afterward. It's been over two years since I've read that book, but I still get teary-eyed just thinking about it! It's hard to say, without spoilers, the exact reason it was such an emotional read, so I'll just say that is was a beautiful and moving story of love and sacrifice.

    I have to check that one out. Although I didn't talk about it edeeming Love made me feel very much like that. (I talk about Redeeming Love too much).

      Would you believe I haven't read Redeeming Love yet? I've been meaning to, but just haven't taken the time to start it.

    Oh man. I've read quite a lot of emotional reads... (And I am a bit sensitive :) The book that jumped to my thoughts though is A Thousand Tomorrow by Karen Kingsbury. Heart-rending... heart-wrenching.... to the point that it's depressing. Two young people chasing after their dreams meet and unexpectedly fall in love. One of them has a very painful background and in the end, the other one battles a very life threatening disease. I remember just practically collapsing on the floor in tears! I do not recommend it. It wasn't my cup of tea. Also, I don't know about anyone else, but most of the story involving painful excruciating sacrifices in the name of love, I find very heavy. Ah... this thing called love.

    I don't know if we were supposed to share but I couldn't help it. :)

      I haven't read that book (and probably won't as I'm not a huge Karen Kingsbury fan anymore), but it does sound really sad/heart-wrenching.

      I'm no fan of hers either. Read the Bailey Flanigan Series after A Thousand Tomorrows because I heard a lot about it. But needless to say that I was VERY disappointed. Some things were good but in the end the not-so satisfying part of the series - and it was quite big - trumped on the good things. But I found out a while after reading A.T.T that there was a sequel to it - a happier story. But I couldn't muster the energy to read that one. A.T.T was draining to read emotionally. I always like talking bookish things :) Happy to share!
