Interview & Giveaway! Noelle Marchand ~ Author of A Texas-Made Match!

Welcome to Christian Bookshelf Reviews, Noelle!! Will you tell us a little about yourself?
I was born and raised in Houston, Texas where I graduated from college last May with a double major in Mass Communication and Speech Communication.

What is your newest book, A Texas-Made Match, about?
I love how the RT Review said it so I’ll quote them. “Ellie O’Brien has decided to get serious about finding a husband now that she’s 21. The problem is that available men are a bit in short supply in Peppin, Texas. Then, Lawson Williams returns home from being a Ranger and announces he will be staying. A joke gone wrong soon has the town matching Ellie up with Lawson. But Ellie has another admirer who is not willing to give her up.”

What is something the average reader wouldn't know about you?
I am really into classic movies from Hollywood’s golden era (1930s-mid 1960s). From the snappy dialogue of romantic comedies to the suspenseful plots of a Hitchcock film, I’m sure they’ve had an influence on my writing.

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
I’ve always loved writing and telling stories so it’s been a dream of mine since I was a little kid.

How many books have you written/published and do you have a favorite?
I’ve written four books and published three. Each of my published works has a special place in my heart for a different reason.

What would you say is your most interesting writing quirk?
Sometimes I get really into whatever I’m writing so much so that I completely lose track of time. I’ve accidentally stayed up writing the entire night more than once. I actually love those moments because I get a lot done. Of course, I have to pay for it later with a nice, swift crash into my pillow.

Where do you like to write?
My bedroom. It’s the easiest place for me to shut the world away and focus on what I have to do.

What is the best and/or worst part about being a writer?
There is no downside for me in being a writer. It’s always come naturally to me and I love it. Being an author is the hard part. Authors have to deal with deadlines, handle legalities, and essentially be a one-person business. It’s challenging but it comes with the territory of being published. Therefore, it is definitely worth it.

What do you like to do when you're not writing?
I’m usually spending time with my family and friends or reading a good book.

What is your favorite genre to read and why?
My favorite genre is the genre I write Christian Romance. Or, rather, I write the genre because I loved reading it and wanted to create similar stories where I controlled the outcome.

Is there a place you’d like to visit, but haven’t yet?
I really want to go to the Florida Keys one day. The wildlife, beaches, and history of the area are interesting to me.

Do you have a favorite Bible verse?
It changes really often for me. Today it’s “God has not given me a spirit of fear but a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind.”  It’s so awesome to know that all of those things are already in my possession. God has GIVEN them to me.

Do you have a favorite song and/or movie?
“La Vie en Rose” is one of my favorite songs simply because it’s so romantic. One of my favorite movies is “Roman Holiday”. It doesn’t have a typical ending for a love story but it’s still such an amazing movie.

What is your favorite holiday?
Christmas! I love the meaning behind the season, the spirit of joy that seems to envelop the earth, and giving gifts to the ones I love.

A few this-or-that questions:

Snowstorms or Thunderstorms? Texan that I am, I’ve never been in a snow storm so I’ll go with thunderstorm.
Chocolate or Vanilla? Mmm. Chocolate!
Tea or Coffee? Tea. Coffee makes me jittery.
Call or Text? Text.
Early-bird or Night-owl? Definitely a night-owl.
Facebook or Twitter? Facebook, please!

Are you currently working on any new novels? If so, could you give us a hint?
The past few months have been a time of preparation and planning for me so I have a lot in the works. I’m waiting to hear back about a proposal I sent out for an antebellum romance concerning abolitionism. Meanwhile, I’m working on a proposal for a series that will follow up on the matchmaking that starts in A Texas-Made Match. I also have a proposal for a story set in the 1930s on reserve for when I can get back to work on it.

Thank you so much for being here! Is there anything else you’d like to tell readers and where can we find you on the web?
