About the book:
Pettrey's Bestselling Series Races to a Riveting Conclusion
Growing up, goody-two-shoes Kirra Jacobs and troublemaker Reef McKenna were always at odds. Now paired together on Yancey's search-and-rescue canine unit, they begin to put aside old arguments as they come to see each other in a different light. Then a call comes in from the Iditarod that will push them to their limits.
Kirra's uncle, a musher in the race, has disappeared. Kirra and Reef quickly track the man, but what they discover is harrowing. Frank's daughter has been kidnapped. In order to save her, the man must use his knowledge as a mechanical engineer to do the kidnapper's bidding or she will die. Kirra and Reef, along with the entire McKenna family, are thrown into a race to stop a shadowy villain who is not only threatening a girl's life, but appears willing to unleash one of the largest disasters Alaska has ever seen.

My thoughts:
Sabotaged was a bittersweet read. It's the last book in the Alaskan Courage series and, while I loved getting a new adventure with these characters, I was sad to start it knowing it would be the end.
As with all of Dani Pettrey's previous books, the writing was great and I loved the characters. I didn't think it was as suspenseful as the other books and there wasn't enough background information for Reef. I really felt for the main female character, Kirra. We learned a lot about her in this book and some of it was so heartbreaking.
The mystery was interesting, but as I said above, not that intense. It seemed to me that every time something bad happened to one of the main characters, they got out of it nearly right away, which just took some of the suspense away.
All in all, though, I really enjoyed Sabotaged. It was a good ending to one of my favorite series! I loved seeing the McKenna's again and hope there will be more stories with them. :) I definitely recommend this series if you enjoy inspirational romantic suspense novels with great characters.

I enjoyed this series, too. I loved the very ending where the whole McKenna clan was together again, but I was a little disappointed that the story didn't spend as much time on the Iditarod Trail as I thought it would.
ReplyDeleteI loved that final scene, too!! So wonderful to have all the McKennas together! :) I agree that it was a little disappointing that so little of the story took place on the trail. :)
DeleteI loved this series! Sad to see it end. I'm going to miss the McKenna's.
ReplyDeleteMelanie,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for taking time to read and review Sabotaged (and all the Alaskan Courage series). Deeply appreciate you!
Best,
