Review: True Purity by Hayley & Michael DiMarco

by Hayley & Michael DiMarco
Revell / 2013
Find on: Amazon, Goodreads

About the book:

What if everything you've heard about purity wasn't quite right?

True Purity isn't only about waiting and keeping your body under wraps--it's about being purely God's in every way. Any desire that prevents you from giving God 100 percent of your life leads to impurity. But here's the amazing truth about purity:

Purity isn't something you achieve for yourself--your purity is really God's job.

True purity is something that is yours solely because of the One who makes you pure. It's when you embrace Jesus as your source of purity that God sees you as pure.

Hayley and Michael DiMarco show you what purity looks like not only when it relates to sex and your body, but also in every area of life. They explain how it involves all of your thoughts, desires, and actions. Because even the best intentions, pledges, rings, and willpower will never equal the true purity found in Christ.

My thoughts:

I haven't read any of Hayley or Michael DiMarco's previous books, but I've now added some of them to my wishlist. True Purity was one of the best books on purity I've read. Instead of putting so much emphasis on outside purity (what you have or have not done physically), the book talks about how true purity is a heart issue.

Purity isn't something we lose, because on our own we are all impure and dead in our sins, it is something given to us through faith in Jesus Christ.

Overall, I loved True Purity and definitely recommend it. I think it'll make you look at purity in a different light.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. ~ Philippians 4:8
