Weekend Wrap-up is where I share what I read this past week, am currently reading, and hope to read this coming week, and (when applicable) the current giveaways/giveaway winners. Occasionally I'll post some other stuff as well.
Feel free to join along and post your own Weekend Wrap-up on your blog/site (if you do, please leave the link in a comment so I can stop by) or, in a comment, share what you've accomplished (reading-wise) this past week. :)

This week's question:
What was the last book you read from a genre you don't normally read?
My answer:
I'm very eclectic, so I read many genres, but I would say Stress Test by Richard L. Mabry (I haven't read a lot of medical thrillers) or My Stubborn Heart by Becky Wade (I don't read contemporary romance novels often), but I really enjoyed both of those books. :)

"Please join me every Friday to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author's name."
My book beginning:
Publisher: Harvest House
Release Date: February 2013
ISBN: 978-0-7369-5210-1
"The last thing Flora Brimm needed was to lose another fiancé. While there was no evidence to prove Will Tucker had met the same unfortunate fate as the other four - an early and untimely demise - there was also no prospective groom in residence at the Crescent Hotel this evening."
I love this opening! It brings me right into the story and makes me wonder where Will is and why he isn't at the hotel.
Melanie, thanks for your nice words about Stress Test. I trust you've discovered that you can read one of my medical thrillers and still sleep with the lights off. Seriously, appreciate your comment. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! I really enjoyed Stress Test. :) Thanks for stopping by. :)
DeleteSo happy to hear that you enjoyed My Stubborn Heart, Melanie! I try to read outside my favorite genre (romance) from time to time. It's like a 'cleanse the palette' course for me. I think it helps broaden my perspective. :)
ReplyDeleteI also like to read outside my favorite genre (suspense/thriller) - I've found I actually like a lot of different genres. :) My Stubborn Heart was a very good read and I look forward to reading your newest book, Undeniably Yours, soon. :D Thanks for commenting.
DeleteI really do plan on buckling down and getting into It Happened at the Fair. I've been a bit distracted lately with my HUGE Mary Kay goal.
ReplyDeleteI could never read that many books at once. :)

ReplyDeleteHappy Reading!
Lets see.... This week I have read an amazing book that I got to review from Pump Up Your Book.
ReplyDeleteSeeds of Evidence by Linda J. White. It is on my favorites list. A mystery that deals powerfully with todays issues, and has characters who stay with you after you close the pages. If you like, my review is here:
