Revell Books / 2013
About the book:
Caught between the war raging around them and the battles within, two souls long for peace--and a love that remains true.
Lt. Georgiana Taylor has everything she could want. A boyfriend back home, a loving family, and a challenging job as a flight nurse. But in July 1943, Georgie's cozy life gets more complicated when she meets pharmacist Sgt. John Hutchinson.
Hutch resents the lack of respect he gets as a noncommissioned serviceman and hates how the war keeps him from his fiancée. While Georgie and Hutch share a love of the starry night skies over Sicily, their lives back home are falling apart. Can they weather the hurt and betrayal? Or will the pressures of war destroy the fragile connection they've made?
With her signature attention to detail and her talent for bringing characters together, Sarah Sundin weaves an exciting tale of emotion, action, and romance that will leave you wanting more.

I really loved the characters in On Distant Shores. I loved how Georgie and John had struggles and issues they had to work on. They felt very real and I couldn't help but care about them.
The story was fantastic! There were ups and downs and a lot of surprises - I definitely didn't see certain things coming! I loved the military aspect and all the history in On Distant Shores.
Overall, On Distant Shores was a great read. I enjoyed it even more than With Every Letter (which I really liked). I definitely recommend this book and can't wait to read Kay's story, In Perfect Time, when it releases.
*I received a complimentary copy of this book for my review. I was not required to give a positive review, only my honest opinion - which I've done. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.*

ReplyDeleteI also loved this book. I thought it was unique how the author referred to the characters in the previous book by not picking up where the last book ended. I really liked this approach. I am a big fan of WWII fiction and it was refreshing to read about the war in the Mediterranean versus other parts of Europe. I could feel Hutch's frustration regarding the lack of respect he received as a pharmacist. I have read all of Sarah's books and cannot wait to read the next installment.
