I'm giving away the following to one (random) winner:
- 1 copy of 'One Tuesday Morning' by Karen Kingsbury
- 1 handmade flower bookmark to match 'One Tuesday Morning'
- 1 copy of 'Beyond Tuesday Morning' by Karen Kingsbury
- 1 handmade flower bookmark to match 'Beyond Tuesday Morning'
- 1 copy of 'Every Now and Then' by Karen Kingsbury
- 1 handmade flower bookmark to match 'Every Now and Then'
Considering it's been almost 10 years since that horrible day of the 9/11 attacks, I've decided to give away Karen Kingsbury's '9/11 series' in memory of all the people that lost their lives that day.
When I read 'One Tuesday Morning', the attacks of 9/11 became more real to me. Considering I was young when it happened, this book helped open my eyes to the tragedy of that day.
The books I'm giving away are used, but are in good condition. Plus, with each book, I will be giving a handmade flower bookmark (that I made) to match that book's cover. I will be using 'Random.org' to pick a winner. Therefore, this will be a random winner and completely non-biased.

I have signed up for you blog. I really like it. On 09/11, I was at home watching the morning news which I usually don't do. They broke through with a live view after the first plane had hit. Then we saw the second plane hit. As the day went on, I heard about the pentagon, another plane headed toward Washington and the towers falling. I couldn't believe it. It was so unreal. It really didn't hit me what was happening until I got home from work that night and saw the news again.

Sorry I typed the wrong name in my first comment, Melanie! Old age is setting in with me :)
ReplyDeleteOn 9/11 I was teaching in my little Christian high school. We had just finished our morning meeting, when a parent called and said, "Our country is under attack!" I thought for sure she was exaggerating--until we turned on the TV.
I'm in upstate NY, two hours north of NYC on the Hudson River. The state planned to close all bridges and told schools to send their kids home before they did so. At the time, one of our seniors had both parents in the military. He received a message from them that they had to leave immediately and could not tell him where they were going.
I still remember how quiet it was because of the no-fly zone. The next day we heard a lone helicopter flying low, and everyone ran outside to see what was happening. It was just passing overhead, but it was a military one . . .

I was out in my greenhouse and my neighbor came running over and told me about the plane that hit the Twin Tower. I ran inside and turned on the tv, gathered my children around me, and we watched in horror as the next plane hit the next one. It was an awful time, as I was grieving the death of my mother from 3 weeks before.

I can't believe it's been 10 years because I can remember vividly where I was and what I was doing. I was at work and when we all heard we gathered around the nearest TV. A few moments it was announced the business was "closing for the rest of the day" and to "go home and be with your family". I was never so scared in my life!!! I had nightmares for several days afterward.

I was at home the morning of 9/11/01 with my baby girl getting ready for our women's Bible study at church. I remember holding her, seeing the news coverage of the first tower having been hit, then watching in disbelief as the other plane flew into the second tower. Needless to say, we pretty much scrapped the Bible study that morning and just spent the time praying for victims and survivors of this horrible tragedy.
