The Alarmists - Don Hoesel

Alarmists, TheAlarmists, The by Don Hoesel

My rating: PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

My initial reaction when starting 'The Alarmists' was that I wasn't going to enjoy reading this book. The first few chapters didn't help to stop that train of thought, because it was boring and so descriptive that I had to reread some sentences for it to make some sense. I ended up reading the entire first chapter twice and the second time through proved to be less boring than the first.

I began reading 'The Alarmists' Thursday, May 19th 2011, which I thought was rather ironic, considering this book is about the end of the world and a lot of people were saying that Judgment Day was going to happen at 6:00 PM on May 21st, 2011. It didn't, of course, because in The Bible Jesus says "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only." (Matthew 24:36)

Once I got through reading the first few chapters of 'The Alarmists' it was more interesting to read. There still were parts that I felt went into too much detail but it was much easier to read. I really liked most of the the characters especially Brent, Maddy, Richards, Rawlings & Abby.

The plot was very interesting and intriguing & when I was reaching the end of "The Alarmists" I hardly put the book down. I also liked how there wasn't any curse words in the book - although there were some parts of the book where it said "he cursed" or something similar to that.

Overall I liked "The Alarmists" - more than I thought I would.

Over the Edge - Brandilyn Collins

Over the Edge: A NovelOver the Edge: A Novel by Brandilyn Collins

My rating: PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

'Over The Edge' started out with a horrible scenario - imagine while you were sleeping someone comes into your house, walks past your daughter's bedroom and enters your bedroom. He then places Lyme infected ticks in your hair - without you even knowing he had been there - that's what happened to Janessa McNeil.

'Over The Edge' opened my eyes to Lyme disease. I knew little to nothing about Lyme disease and what people who have it go through before reading this book. I have read most of Brandilyn Collins books and 'Over The Edge' is now one of my favorite books that she has written.

I felt for Janessa and all she was going through, imagining if I was her how I would feel. The story was great, full of mystery and had a major twist ending! I hope there will be a sequel in the future, just so I can know what happens next.

I think if you read this book you won't be disappointed because I wasn't! 'Over The Edge' is sure to put you on the edge of your seat in suspense of what's going to happen next!

In Harm's Way - Irene Hannon - Heroes of Quantico Book 3

In Harm's Way (Heroes of Quantico #3)In Harm's Way by Irene Hannon

My rating: PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

'In Harm's Way' starts with a child who is kidnapped by a woman while her mother, who was practicing the piano in church, went to the bathroom!

Rachel Sutton is a busy woman, she plays the piano, teaches and she's not crazy...or is she? Rachel shows up at the FBI office, and seems normal...until she tells Special Agent Nick Bradley her story. She found a Raggedy Ann Doll in a parking lot and when she picks the doll up, after digging it out of the frozen snow, she gets this strange sense of terror and hears a baby crying. At first Nick dismisses her but then he stumbles on a link between the doll and the abducted baby. What he discovers is shocking!

"In Harm's Way' is by far my favorite book in the 'Heroes of Quantico' series. I love how Nick is fixing up a house and that he's not your typical FBI agent. When I was reading this I was thinking if it's going to be where she is a psychic, then I won't like this book, but that was not the case. I'm not going to say what happens because that would give away too much of the story.

I am so looking forward to reading 'Deadly Pursuit' and I can hardly wait until August! This has just been such a great series and I don't want it to end...but end it did. At least there is another series that has some of the same characters. 'In Harm's Way' held my attention and I most definitely recommend this book!

An Eye for an Eye - Irene Hannon - Heroes of Quantico Book 2

An Eye for an Eye (Heroes of Quantico #2)An Eye for an Eye by Irene Hannon

My rating: PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

The beginning of 'An Eye For An Eye' is about Mark Sander who after an accidental shooting in a cafe, which kills the cashier, is sent to St. Louis to work as a field agent while the bad press settles. While there he meets his first love, Emily Lawson who is now a psychologist, during a jog in a park. Their reunion is cut short...by a sniper. Emily is shot but it's not clear who was the intended target - Mark or Emily.

The book continues with both Emily and Mark feeling attraction for each other but Emily has loved and lost and doesn't want to go down that road again. Evan Cooper is sent down to St. Louis to "shadow" Mark in case the shooter was after him and decides to try again.

Overall 'An Eye For An Eye' was a great book that I didn't want to put down - it was that good! The suspense stayed throughout the entire book, and I loved the ending.

This is the third book I've read by Irene Hannon, I have also read 'Fatal Judgment' & 'Against All Odds'. I plan to read 'In Harm's Way' next. I recommend this is you're like me and love reading suspense/romance books.

Against All Odds - Irene Hannon - Heroes of Quantico Book 1

Against All Odds by Irene Hannon

My rating: PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

FBI HOSTAGE RESCUE TEAM member Evan Cooper and Mark Sanders are assigned to protect Monica Callahan, but she isn't making their job easy. She is estranged from her diplomat father, who is involved in a hostage situation in the Middle east, and refuses to be scared by a terrorists threat involving her. Until she gets a chilling warning that convinces her the danger is real.

This book centers around Monica Callahan, Her relationship with her father, her growing attraction to Evan Cooper, and the terrorist threat against her. At first she doesn't want to go into protective custody but will the message she gets change her mind?

I loved how the suspense and romance of this book flowed together. It was wonderful to read and I would recommend this to everyone that enjoys romance/suspense novels.

This is the second book I have read by Irene Hannon, I also read 'Fatal Judgment'.

Possession - Rene Gutteridge

PossessionPossession by Rene Gutteridge

My rating: PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

Imagine you were moving out of state and all of your belongings were held hostage... What would you do?

'Possession' starts out with a police officer asking a woman questions, which intrigued me because I was wondering - Who is this woman? What is going on?..

'Possession continues on with Vance & his wife who are moving to California with their son, to have a fresh start at life, but when their belongings are held hostage that fresh start seems not so fresh.

I absolutely love this book is has an unexpected twist and from the beginning was intriguing. Almost from page one I was captivated with the story and I just wanted to continue reading it.

I've enjoyed reading some of Rene Gutteridge other books (the Occupational Hazards Series; The Boo Series; Listen) along with this book. I hope that there will be a sequel in the future because it didn't seem 'finished' in my opinion. I really enjoyed reading this! Recommended!
