Review: Kill Shot by Anne Patrick

Kill Shot by Anne Patrick
Wounded Heroes: Book One
Find on: Amazon, Goodreads

About the book:

Former combat medic Kory Wagner has been in four war zones, served three tours in Iraq, survived countless firefights, RPG’s, IED’s and even a helicopter crash. Now she’s home and out of the Army for good and someone is trying to kill her in her own backyard. Just as disturbing is the handsome sheriff who’s on the case.

Sheriff Sean Harding doesn’t quite know what to think of the decorated veteran that managed to outsmart an entire search party. What bothers him more is the body of a PI, whom she hired to find her sister's killer, was found dead in a building Kory owns. And Kory isn’t being very cooperative with helping him find the answers as to why someone would kill her sister and want her dead. Will he be able to keep her alive along enough to discover the truth?

My thoughts:

Kill Shot is the second book I've read by Anne Patrick (the first being Fire and Ash) and a good suspense read. I really liked how the book dealt with the military and war vets - their sacrifices and struggles with adjusting back to civilian life.

The characters were great. I loved how Sean and Kory acted towards one another and there were some very humorous scenes. =) I also really liked Digger and hope he is in future Wounded Heroes books. The mystery in Kill Shot was really good and I had no idea who the culprit was until he/she was revealed!

There were some errors/typos in Kill Shot and, while not a big deal, it did draw my attention away from the story a little.

Overall, a good read with some really suspenseful moments. I liked it and look forward to reading the next book in this series, Trespasses, as soon as I can. I recommend it if you enjoy suspense books with some romance.

*I received this book for free for my review. I was not required to give a positive review, only my honest opinion - which I've done. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.*

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. ~ Philippians 4:8
